2008 Grant Recipients:

Airport Elementary    $24,843.00

Connecting the Classroom to the World:  Using various types of technology to engage students and families in the learning process (laptops, digital cameras, video recorders, PDA’s etc.)  Project will help create virtual labs where students will gather info using PDA's, the internet, and live interviews.  Families will work together to create PowerPoint presentations, documentaries etc.  Students will draw conclusions, make predictions, and share their results.

Big Picture Elementary    $24,910.97

Digital Media Exhibition Project:  Laptops, digital recorders, SMARTboards etc. will focus not only on knowledge acquisition, but also knowledge utilization.  Students will be required to complete two exhibitions per year and this grant will provide new digital technology for students to use. 

Cahokia Unit School District    $24,900.15

Project POP:  Adding BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr., projection units to 11 school buildings and providing professional development to reinforce sharing of concepts (educator to educator).  This grant will help improve classroom instruction and reinforce how to best use multimedia websites (like BrainPOP).

Center for Educational Advancement     $23,218.00

Technology Integration plus Professional Development Equals Improved Student Achievement - Part 2:  Additional SMARTboards, ThinkLink accounts and professional development will continue this 2007 pilot project to expand to a new school (Barbara Jordan Elementary in University City) and continue providing professional development to help teachers become mentors for integrating technology in classrooms with a goal of developing good thinkers, problem solvers and decision makers.
Duchesne High School      $15,111.00

Science Education Technology Integration Project:   A partial grant to help address shortage of classroom-based laptops for full integration of technology in science labs.

Gateway Michael School    $22,307.00

Edmark Reading Program Expansion:  Expand Edmark Reading curriculum by utilizing computer based components.  The school did not have the equipment to run this software and additional computers with touch screens will allow students to expand their educational knowledge by participating.   

Good Shepherd Lutheran School    $9,116.25

Projector / ActivBoard Project:  This partial grant will provide funding to purchase Prometheum ActivBoards, installation, Active Slates and Active Pens for 3 classrooms.

Intercommunity Education DBA Marian Middle School    $24,634.00

Integrated Physical Science and Pre-Algebra into Curriculum:   This grant will purchase laptops, graphing calculators, digital cameras and SMARTboards to help prepare middle school students for high school by providing opportunities to learn greater problem solving skills, data analysis and graphical interpretation techniques.  Students will collect data in science lab and then analyze in math. 

KDHX:  Double Helix (working with GEAR UP Schools and St. Cecelia Middle School)    $19,448.60

Creating Media Savvy Youth Through Media Production Training:  Expansion of 2007 pilot project to include purchasing additional video production equipment to stay at each school and professional development.  Grant includes underwriting after-school instruction at St. Cecelia's, Saturday program with GEAR UP schools and a summer camp.                                               

Margaret Buerkle Middle School    $6,224.00

SMARTboard Integration in Language Arts Classroom:  Integrating wireless technology in language arts will help with grammar, spelling, vocabulary and writing.  Grant includes Senteo Interactive Response System, SMARTboard and Airliner Wireless slate system to help with note taking, images etc.

Monroe Elementary (Kozlen)    $6,000.00

Senteo Interactive Response System:  When paired with SMARTboard, uses wireless technology to transmit and record student responses, giving immediate feedback to teacher.  Keeps students motivated and engaged.

Monroe Elementary (Hutchison)    $1,900.00

Third Grade:   Grant provides SMARTboard Airliners, Elmo Projector, and flashdrives.  SMARTboard Airliner gives teacher ability to teach from SMARTboard from any location in room.  Digital image printer will enhance writing skills.  Elmo projector allows teacher to project images from books etc.  Flashdrives to save writing projects while going between rooms.

Roosevelt High School - 9th Grade Learning Center    $22,665.37

English in the 21st Century - Communication Through Technology:  Grant will allow school to create a networked, floating computer lab for research and communication.  Project will enhance student's ability to "think" in a cyber-based environment and will allow teacher to create a network page through school's website where students can post questions etc that will be addressed in class.

St. Roch School    $25,0000.00
CESSTOP:  This grant will underwrite a pilot program of CESSTOP (Catholic Elementary School SMARTboard Technology Outreach Program).  Many educators are looking for a low-cost option to learn how to effectively use technology in their classrooms and this grant will help St. Roch School create a pilot program.  St. Roch staff members will be engaged to provide professional development, training and mentoring to other educators to effectively use SMARTBoards, how to integrate lesson plans, templates, websites, etc.   This pilot workshop will be open to educators from all St. Louis region private schools (not just Catholic).  Read the Case Study

2007 Grant Recipients:

Cooperating School District:  $24,905

Cooperating School District, in collaboration with Hancock Place Elementary School, Pine Lawn Elementary School,  and Central Elementary School will use the grant monies from the ITEF to purchase portable SMARTBoards, projectors and laptops to connect to handheld computers.  Training a core team from each school on the most effective use of this technology and the implementation of "ThinkLink" a Missouri Assessment Program assessment tool is also included as part of this grant.  Read the Case Study -

KDHX Community Media:  $25,000
KDHX Community Media, in collaboration with St. Cecilia's Academy and the Central Visual and Performing Arts Television Production Program, will be creating a pilot program to engage, train and lead students in using digital storytelling.  Students will create short video segments, around topical issues, that they will bring together in a magazine style show.  Funding for this grant will cover an Apple Mobile Learning Lab, video cameras, still cameras, and staffing.  

Word of Life Lutheran School:  $9,200

Leveraging the gifts of many different funders, Word of Life is providing innovative technology resources to students, staff and families of their school.  The Innovative Technology Education Fund is happy to provide funds to purchase 2 Classroom Smart Boards and 3 laptops for their staff.

Youth In Need:  $24,000

Youth In Need will develop an innovative, relaxed "coffee shop" type atmosphere to host its new computer lab for a unique population of homeless students attending ExCEL, their alternative school.  Grant monies will fund the purchase of laptops, wireless networks, and furnishings.

Audaciously Audible will use audible books, along with technology in the classroom, as the foundation to increase reading comprehension for 29 English Language Learners and 21 Practical English students.
