LOCAL FUNDING AGENCY ADOPTS “INNOVATIVE TECHNOLGOY EDUCATION FUND”AS NEW NAME

October 4, 2006 ST. LOUIS, MO. . . . The Humanities Instructional Television Education Center announced today that it has received approval from the State of Missouri to officially change its name to the Innovative Technology Education Fund. The Innovative Technology Education Fund is a St. Louis based charitable funding organization that is also an FCC license holder of four Educational Broadband channels in St. Louis, Missouri.

“Our goal is to enhance learning through wireless access and funding of innovative technology projects that benefit education throughout the greater St. Louis region” said Lisa J. Dinga, Executive Director. “Our hope is to partner with other philanthropic and technological organizations to help educators connect with the technological resources they need to ensure the long-term success of their students.”

Educators are encouraged to submit proposals that will enhance learning and improve student achievement by integrating technology into the classroom. Special consideration will be given to wireless technology applications and/or projects benefiting students in economically disadvantaged areas, or from schools which currently perform at below-average levels in academic achievement.

The Innovative Technology Education Fund envisions funding projects such as computer and telecommunications equipment (computers, Smart Boards, Wireless devices, etc.), Infrastructure to build networks, wireless access, and/or training for educators to enhance learning through the implementation and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
